Out with the old, in with the new

After 5 weeks of no mountain bike and only riding my road bike my love for cycling had started to slowly diminish. I was starting to understand why roadies are more often than not angry people, hell I'd be angry too if all I had to look forward to was heading out for a road ride and looking over my shoulder the whole time hoping that soccer mom yapping away on her cellphone didn't run over me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a nice long road ride BUT I can only take so much pavement. A month of no riding on the dirt had begun to kill my soul.

After the 2 week wait I finally picked up my new ride, magic carpet ride at that, and oh was the wait worth it. After only two rides, a few laps at Herb and a few laps at Bayou Point, I can already tell this bike is here to stay for a long time. The saying "steel is real" has never rung so true.

The negative vibes are finally started to crawl away and good things are gracing my sight everywhere I look. Headed out for a solo hour long training ride on the local trails and much to my surprise the ACOE had put up bike crossing signs at the trail over the past week. The odd thing is that last weekend while riding I had been thinking about asking them if they had it in their budget to do this since I knew the end of their fiscal year was a week or so away....looks great, the trail is really coming together nicely. Looking forward to the new trail work and additions this winter.

Until next time, happy trails!
